As I lay there hearing the soft rain, I felt the forest talking, sharing their unity with all that is. I have long been fascinated by the notion of a collective energy field for humanity but never considered a collective energy field for nature. As I listened to the trees, I received the impression that where ever contiguous forest exists with trees joined at their roots, a unified energy field exists.

It is natures job to balance the planet and maintain the unity of all that is. As humans we have been ignorant of the damage we do to nature. This was not always so and some indigenous peoples still know how to interact with nature without upsetting the delicate balance of all that is.

It is time for us to consider a new way of being and to learn to collaborate with nature to maintain the balance. I recommend Machelle Wright's books on this subject. The connected energy of the trees and their ability to communicate is part of a new way for us to see the world. If you have the opportunity to be in a forest, please sit quietly and attune yourself to the magic of the trees talking with every rustle of a leaf.

Society, politics, advertisers are increasingly using fear to motivate us. The trend started long ago, but was accelerated by 9/11 and intensified further by the recent economic crisis. You cannot turn on the TV without being assailed with images of illness, erectile dysfunction, lost children, car wrecks, and/or economic ruin. It pervades our lives.

In my meditations over the past few months two devas have spoken to me—telling me that we do not have to be afraid. That we can find safety for our lives and for the planet. It is our choice, we can live in the fear, or we can live in the certain knowledge that we are connected to the infinite that is beyond the trials and tribulations of this planet.

In finding this safety, this balance we can see more clearly what is really important and seek answers to the issues that really matter. If we dwell on fear it controls our lives and directs our thoughts, emotions, and our outcomes.
